Wands at the ready and step into the wizarding world of Harry Potter as we take you on a snapshot of our adventure on the making of the Harry Potter movies.
Warner Bros. Studios is an immersive experience for Harry Potter enthusiasts to delve behind the magical scenes and gain an insight into how the filmmakers brought J.K Rowling's magical world to life.
The ‘Dark Arts’ event running from 13th September to 10th November had transformed the studio into a dark mystical atmosphere, keep an eye out for Death Eaters roaming the studio!!
Make sure to pick up your Activity Passport: Dark Arts Edition at the entrance. As a Hogwarts first year you start your visit in the Great Hall, a central piece in most of the movies.
You’ll find life-sized replicas of characters, feasts at the table, thematic decorations of the dark side; the hall is booming with atmosphere bringing back memories from the films. Snap your photos quickly as your tour will continue into the costume and art exhibition, where you see the intricate details of a multitude of costumes as well as replicas of sets like the Gryffindor Common Room and Headmasters Office.
There is a lot to take in here, take your time and wait for others to move on so you get a good look around.
Your adventure continues into the Forbidden Forrest, lightening, thunder and smoke effects are used, if you're nervous especially of spiders like Aragog you can skip this section, just speak to a member of staff as you enter the Forrest, and they’ll direct you to the next section of the tour.
Halfway through the tour you are greeted with a refreshment area, don’t forget your glass of butterbeer. Driving licenses at the ready, hop onto the enchanted Weasleys car for a great photo or try out Hagrid’s motorbike and sidecar.
Make sure to step into Privet Drive and enter Mr & Mrs Dursleys house but watch out for Marge Dursley her buttons may burst as she swoops out the house!
The next section is all about animatronics and the many creations in the Harry Potter world, we were fascinated by the making of Hagrid and the immense use of animatronics to bring Hagrid to life. As you make your way through this section you get a real understanding of how much creativity is required and the talents of so many. Brining to life the fantastic beasts, buildings and characters that make Harry Potter a firm favourite for so many young and old. There is still plenty to see in this area including Gringotts Bank and what lies beneath, finally you won’t be disappointed by the model of Hogwarts itself.
At the end of the tour there are a variety of eateries, ranging from Afternoon Tea to Ice cream to Burgers. For allergy sufferers, the staff are equipped with allergy booklets detailing which foods are allergen free.
Overall, we had a brilliant time here at Warner Bros Studio and felt the staff made the studio come alive with magic. We were lucky that it wasn’t that busy, if you were to arrive on a busy day this could dramatically reduce your enjoyment with the wait times required to see everything. So if you love Harry Potter or are interested in how the film makers bring a book to life, a visit to WB Studios will not disappoint.
