Who doesn't love a good National Trust property especially if they have fabulous gardens as well, today's visit to Kingston Lacy had all this and more. Located near Wimborne Minster, Kingston Lacy is an impressive 17th century Italian inspired country mansion which was the residence of the Bankes family.
We visited the gardens first as the weather prediction wasn't looking favourable, as you make your way around make sure you visit the Japanese Garden with its beautiful flaming red maples and bamboo walkways.
We loved the Kitchen Garden with the old, styled greenhouses, you can imagine how productive this area would have been, the gardens are immaculate and compliment the house perfectly.
As you enter the house you are greeted by the volunteers who give you a brief overview of the house, these volunteers are a valuable source of information if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
The house is adorned with artwork in every room a reel must for art lovers, as you make your way around the house don’t forget to keep looking up, chandeliers and art embellish the ceilings.
We loved the Egyptian collection, the largest private ownership in the UK, there are also pieces of the collection located throughout the garden.
The usual National Trust Cafe is available providing coffee and cakes and lite bites, accessible toilets are also available both near the house and Kitchen Gardens.
If in the area, we would highly recommend a visit to Kingston Lacy.
